2. Legal Definition of MSME (As per Government of India)
According to the revised classification (effective from 1 July 2020), MSMEs are categorized based on:

If investment = ₹8 crore and turnover = ₹40 crore → Small Enterprise

3. Types of MSMEs (Based on Activity)
MSMEs can be divided into:
1️⃣ Manufacturing Enterprises
Businesses involved in production, processing, or manufacturing of goods.

Automobile parts manufacturing
2️⃣ Service Enterprises
Businesses providing services.
Examples:
IT services
Digital marketing agency

Consultancy firm

4. Who Can Apply for MSME Registration?
Any of the following can apply:
Proprietorship
Partnership Firm
LLP (Limited Liability Partnership)
Private Limited Company
One Person Company (OPC)
Cooperative Society
Trust
Hindu Undivided Family (HUF)
Even startups can register as MSME.
5. What is MSME Registration Called?
Earlier, it was called Udyog Aadhaar.
Now it is called Udyam Registration under
Udyam Registration Portal.
It is completely online and paperless.
6. Who Fills the MSME Form?
The following persons can fill the form:
Business owner (Proprietor)
Authorized partner
Director of company
Chartered Accountant
Consultant
Company Secretary
But it must be filed using the Aadhaar number of the authorized person.
7. Required Documents for MSME Registration
Good news: Very minimal documents are required.

10. MSME Registration Certificate
After successful registration, you get:
